“[…] Have you ever seen Ellsworth Kelly’s plant drawings? Those big, laser-sharp black line works—so delicate, so timeless... I adore them. The eye, the virtuosity, all while remaining very minimal, fragile, and spontaneous. It is close to how I like to draw animals.
Whether in zoological parks, natural history museums, from photographs, or in nature, I’ve always found joy and comfort in studying the silhouettes and textures of these intelligent and vulnerable beings.
So, this edition is an excerpt from a series of drawings I’ve been working on, which brings these creatures together in the rain. It is, in a way, a meeting point between my research on precipitation and the animal kingdom, for which I feel a profound empathy.
It goes beyond empathy, really. I feel indebted to them. And in truth, I believe we all are.”
